CAMELBAK

The American company Camelbak, which was at the origin of drinking bags for cycling and other sports, was founded in the late 1980s.

It was the brainchild of avid cyclist Michael Eidson, who filled an infusion bag with water for the Hotter N Hell 100 desert race, tucked into a white sock for better thermal insulation. He then attached the tube leading to his mouth with a simple clothespin.

Other cyclists laughed at first and Camelbak's very beginnings were not easy, but eventually the good idea took hold and the company is now at the forefront of producing equipment to keep athletes drinking during exercise.
