Cotton rugs may shed fibres after unpacking or during use. After unpacking, leave the rug flat for 2–3 days. Then gently brush or vacuum to restore the pile. If you find a long thread, cut it with scissors. Never pull on it. Avoid prolonged exposure to sunlight. Use a low-power vacuum cleaner regularly to clean and prevent shedding. Do not use robotic vacuum cleaners or vacuum cleaners with brooms to avoid damaging the pile. If your rug has braids or fringes, wash on a gentle cycle.
